Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive analytical exploration of the evolution of Quranic translations across different historical periods, with a particular focus on the Urdu translations in the Indo-Pak subcontinent. The research delves into the early history of Quranic translations, beginning from the Tabi'een era, and examines the significant milestones that shaped the development of Quranic interpretations over time. Special attention is given to the three major phases of Urdu Quran translations, highlighting their distinct features, linguistic approaches, and scholarly contributions. Additionally, this study offers a comparative analysis of Quranic translations in various languages, shedding light on the cultural, intellectual, and religious impact of these efforts. By tracing the trajectory of Quranic translation in the subcontinent, the research aims to underscore the challenges, methodologies, and influences that have shaped the understanding of the Quran in different linguistic and historical contexts. This study contributes to the broader discourse on Quranic scholarship and translation studies, emphasizing the vital role of translation in making the Quran accessible to diverse linguistic communities.
