Punjabi biographies have evolved as significant literary works that chronicle the lives of individuals while reflecting the socio-cultural and historical contexts of the region. Rooted in the rich oral traditions of Punjab, these biographies have transitioned over time from bagiographic accounts of saints and spiritual leaders to modern narratives capturing the lives of ordinary individuals and prominent figures. The partition of 1947, migration, and resilience have emerged as dominant themes, shaping the trajectory of Punjabi biographical writing. This work explores the history and development of Punjabi biographies, tracing their progression from religious and moralistic storytelling to contemporary works that emphasize personal and collective experiences. It highlights how these biographies serve as crucial historical records, preserving the ethos of Punjabi culture and offering insights into the region's transformation over time. By analyzing key works and authors, this study underscores the importance of Punjabi biographies in enriching literary traditions and providing authentic narratives that bridge the past and present.
