Abstract

Music is an art form that expresses ideas and emotions through rhythm, melody and harmony. Music can make people of all ages happy, energetic, and alert. The role of musicians is unavoidable in Pakistani Punjabi Films. The great musician Wazir Afzal was deeply rooted in people's culture and was intimately familiar with the diverse music landscapes from Patiala to Jhang and from Jammu to Bahawalpur. Simplicity and emotion delicacy of nuance marked his music which never failed to enthrall and uplift the people. He made his debut as a Sarod player in Karachi but soon moved to Lahore and started playing another musical instrument; Mandolin. This research article, will present definition of music, life and career of Wazir Afzal alongwith the list of Punjabi Films hits. His tunes are memorable for centuries in the voices of vivacious singers like Noor Jahan, Masood Rana, Afshan, Naheed Akhtar, Shoukat Ali, Mehdi Hassan and many more.
