Non-Muslim poets, particularly Hindus, have made significant contributions to the promotion of Persian language and literature in the subcontinent. They embraced Persian as a literary medium, showcasing their creative talents through it. A notable figure in this context is Pandit Lachhmi Ram Sarwar Lacknavi, who played a vital role in Persian literature during the late eleventh century and early twelfth century Hijri. Originally from Kashmir, he later settled in Lucknow, where he spent the remainder of his life.
